Importing a previous course is a great option for faculty who have already taught the course before and wish to migrate their existing course content over to the next semester. You will want to ensure your course is empty before importing an entire course. Imports are additive, which means new content is added onto existing content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-infobox advgb-infobox-wrapper has-text-align-left advgb-infobox-e8a96e6e-f6bb-4ed2-840b-d192bcb46071\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-wrap\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-container\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-inner-container\"><i class=\"material-icons-outlined\">import_export<\/i><\/div><\/div><div class=\"advgb-infobox-textcontent\"><h3 class=\"advgb-infobox-title\">What if I want to copy content from a different course I did not teach previously?<\/h3><p class=\"advgb-infobox-text\">Courses cannot be copied by faculty who do not own the course content. If you need a course copy that is not your original content, you must seek permission from the owner first, and then submit an <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech-help\/ed-tech-support\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech-help\/ed-tech-support\/\">Ed Tech Support Ticket<\/a> to have the content copied into your course.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#resetting-course-content\">Resetting Course Content<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#importing-previous-course\">Importing a Previous Course into a Current Course<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#reviewing-your-course-content\">Reviewing Your Course Content<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#additional-resources\">Additional Resources<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"resetting-course-content\">Resetting Course Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-infobox advgb-infobox-wrapper has-text-align-left advgb-infobox-4525a878-9c4b-432f-aaf2-3a47263f8022\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-wrap\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-container\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-inner-container\"><i class=\"material-icons-outlined\">warning<\/i><\/div><\/div><div class=\"advgb-infobox-textcontent\"><h3 class=\"advgb-infobox-title\">Special Note<\/h3><p class=\"advgb-infobox-text\">In most cases, if you are building new content and\/or are importing (copying) content from a previous course, it is not necessary to first reset your course. You can skip to the section in <a href=\"#importing-previous-course\">Importing a Previous Course into a Current Course<\/a>. Only reset your course if you want to wipe out your entire course and start over from scratch. <\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resetting a Canvas course essentially wipes out all content within your course and creates a fresh new course shell for you. Course details and enrollments will remain intact within your course. Following the reset, your course will be unpublished and will not be visible to students. If you added the course to the Dashboard, it will still appear in the Dashboard after a reset. The new course shell will contain a few basic items (we refer to this as the CCS Template) to help get you started building your course content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to the Canvas course you wish to reset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Course Navigation, click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the sidebar located on the right-hand side of your screen, click the <strong>Reset Course Content<\/strong> link. Consider using this option to remove items you won&#8217;t need, such as old announcements and calendar events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to adjust dates, select the <strong>Adjust events and due dates<\/strong> checkbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>+ Add to Import Queue<\/strong> button.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you chose to&nbsp;<strong>Select specific content<\/strong>, you will be able to pick which content to import (copy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Your course import will be added under the heading <strong>Current Jobs<\/strong>.  You may leave this screen while the course import is running.  Return to the <strong>Import Course Content<\/strong> screen to check on the status.  Depending on the size of your course, your import may take several minutes to process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"reviewing-your-course-content\">Reviewing Your Course Content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After importing your course content, you will need to check your course for accuracy.
