Once in Canvas, your Dashboard will automatically display:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Your Semester Courses<\/strong> &#8211; The classes you are scheduled to teach (these will not be visible to students until you publish them).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A Departmental Course<\/strong> &#8211; A hub for department-specific information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Faculty Orientation and Training<\/strong> &#8211; A self-paced onboarding course covering CCS processes and Canvas basics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Missing a Course?<\/strong> If your upcoming semester courses aren\u2019t visible on your dashboard, please email <a href=\"mailto:edtech@ccsdetroit.edu\">edtech@ccsdetroit.edu<\/a> or submit an <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/submit-an-edtech-support-ticket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EdTech Support<\/a> ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"building\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Building Your Canvas Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/build-your-canvas-course\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Build your Canvas course content, assignments, and materials<\/a>.<\/strong> To build your Canvas course, click into one of the courses you will teach during the semester. In addition to using the linked guide to learn how to build your course, at the top of the Modules page on every Canvas course you will find an unpublished module that features step-by-step instructions and videos to help you create your course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/editing-your-simple-syllabus-document\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Edit and submit your Simple Syllabus<\/a> (must be fully approved and published by the 1st day of class).<\/strong> To edit your Simple Syllabus, click into one of the courses you will teach during the semester. In the course navigation menu, select Simple Syllabus. Begin working through your syllabus document, following the instructions closely. Be sure to submit your syllabus for Department Chair approval.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/the-udoit-accessibility-checker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check and update course accessibility using UDOIT<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/course-readiness-check-your-guide-for-a-student-ready-canvas-course-for-instructors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Run a Course Readiness Check<\/a><\/strong>. This helps verify your course is ready for student viewing and meets minimum CCS requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/publishing-courses-in-canvas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Publish your course<\/a>!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"import\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canvas Course Import Request<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fill out our <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/canvas-course-import-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Canvas Course Import Request<\/a> form and EdTech will transfer your content into your current Canvas courses. We can assist with the following requests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copy your own material from a previous semester into a current course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Import course material from a colleague or another instructor. (<em>Note: Requires written or verbal approval from the original instructor before EdTech can proceed<\/em>.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Import Canvas content from a different institution (requestor must have a Canvas export\/cartridge file from the prior institution).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important<\/strong>: It is essential you build your Canvas course and submit your Simple Syllabus for Department Chair approval prior to the first day of classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"minimum\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canvas Minimum Usage Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ensure a reliable experience for all CCS students, all instructors are expected to maintain a baseline presence on Canvas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>In-Person Courses (IP)<\/strong>: You are required to use Canvas to track and manage attendance (first two weeks), grades, and course materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Online and Hybrid Courses (ONLA, ONLS, HYB)<\/strong>: You are required to use Canvas to track attendance (first two weeks), grades, course materials, structured modules (including module overviews, learning objectives, assessments, activities, and resources), and regular and substantive interaction (RSI) throughout the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What Does RSI Look Like?<\/strong> Quick examples of RSI include posting weekly announcements, actively facilitating discussion boards, or providing written feedback on student progress.
