{"id":3026,"date":"2023-08-08T13:49:42","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T17:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/?page_id=3026"},"modified":"2026-07-29T13:34:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T17:34:12","slug":"ai-guidelines-foundations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/ai-guidelines-foundations\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Guidelines &#8211; Foundations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In conjunction with the <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/artificial-intelligence-institutional-statement\/\">CCS Institutional AI Statement<\/a>, the Foundations department (faculty, staff, and students) will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use AI driven technologies for research and ideation purposes only. Traditional skill development will remain the main focus of the Foundation Department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop an understanding of how to integrate AI driven technologies responsibly and ethically, specifically as an aid to the creative process, not as a replacement for what we do as artists and designers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit documentation of work (e.g. photographs or scans) that is an honest representation of the work in real life. Use of AI, auto-filtering, photo enhancement, or any editing that alters or obscures the true quality of the work is not acceptable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid the use of direct artist, designer, company, or brand names, or other copyrighted content within generative prompts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Document and cite the specific context of how AI tools have been utilized, and what has been learned through this process. Proper citation is necessary to avoid plagiarism and maintain and demonstrate personal and artistic integrity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Produce and submit work that has been manually executed by only the student. Work would be evident of physical or digital input by the creator. Submission of work must abide by assignment guidelines and overall course outcome goals (e.g., a digital illustration may not be submitted when a physical drawing was assigned).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retain any and all iterations of work until final grades are submitted. In the event authorship or authenticity is in question, students must provide sufficient evidence appropriate to the work within 48 hours once requested.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comply with the reasonable and ethical use of AI. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in disciplinary action, up to and including a failing grade and\/or suspension from the institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit in writing any wish to offer an exception, with intent and outcomes clearly documented. Exceptions must be approved by the Department Chair before implementation. AI use within the curriculum will abide by the guidelines offered in the <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/artificial-intelligence-institutional-statement\/\">CCS Institutional AI Statement<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place greater emphasis in all course Pedagogical methodologies on active learning and process work to ensure students can evidence their efforts within assigned projects and develop relevant skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please note: <\/strong><br>AI technology is a broad term used to describe the use of Artificial Intelligence (e.g. Learning Systems, Computer Vision, etc.) that can identify, edit, and produce content using very minimal user input.
