{"id":2917,"date":"2023-07-25T12:17:04","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T16:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/?page_id=2917"},"modified":"2025-06-18T13:34:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T17:34:53","slug":"ai-guidelines-advertising-and-communication-design","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/ai-guidelines-advertising-and-communication-design\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Guidelines &#8211; Communication Design &amp; Strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>These guidelines were developed by the department in consultation with Academic Affairs and the Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG),&nbsp;which included CD Associate Professor, Matt Raupp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will adhere to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/artificial-intelligence-institutional-statement\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2915\">CCS Institutional AI Statement<\/a>.&nbsp;If faculty or students have questions about the implementation of these guidelines in the classroom, they should contact the department chair, at&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:slaporte@collegeforcreativestudies.edu\">slaporte@collegeforcreativestudies.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the CCS IAS statement is so that we can cultivate responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the classroom and eventually in our design practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In conjunction with the\u00a0CCS IAS\u00a0statement, the Communication Design &amp; Strategy department (faculty, staff, and students) will:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze AI use in our research, content development, and creative process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop an understanding of how to integrate AI effectively and ethically, as an aid to what we do, not as a replacement for what we do as designers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid the use of direct names, styles, or periods\/references when integrating AI into our workflow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Document and cite the context of how AI tools are integrated, and what had been learned through this process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Communicate with faculty in class when complex issues arise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain open to new learning of all tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1tAUPVfzwhN1jNZYxgRNabEcL7pCIztu4fcUtbZjjVfA\/edit#heading=h.vf0kyydgcd6y\">CCS Academic Integrity Policy<\/a>&nbsp;has been revised to include AI-related concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As AI technology is evolving, these, and the institution\u2019s, guidelines will change as context requires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These guidelines were developed by the department in consultation with Academic Affairs and the Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG),&nbsp;which included CD Associate Professor, Matt Raupp. We will adhere to the&nbsp;CCS Institutional AI Statement.&nbsp;If faculty or students have questions about the implementation of these guidelines in the classroom, they should contact the department chair, at&nbsp;slaporte@collegeforcreativestudies.edu.
